Position Summary

  • A strong commitment to provide excellent clinical care within the Operating Suite
  • Are accountable for their actions
  • A clinical placement within the Operating Suite is desirable but not essential for you to apply

 

Perioperative Graduate Program

 

The Perioperative Graduate Program offers Registered Nurses the opportunity to experience working within the following subspecialties:

  • Anaesthetics
  • Instrument/Circulating Nurse
  • Post Anaesthetic Care Unit

 

Support at the Mater

 

 Graduate Nurses are supported through a number of avenues including:

  • A dedicated Learning and Development Department
  • Clinical Nurse Educators in all departments
  • Supernumerary time for each rotation
  • Clinical Honours whilst undertaking your Graduate Program aligned with the University of Tasmania
  • Preceptors
  • Facilitated debrief sessions
  • Study days
  • Social nights

 

 

About You

 

To be considered for the 2018 Mater Nurse Perioperative Program you must have completed a Bachelor of Nursing Degree within the last twelve (12) months; or are due to complete the same prior to the start date of the 2018 Mater Program.

 

The candidate must have:

  • No more than six (6) months’ experience working as a Registered Nurse since graduation; if you have already completed graduation within the past twelve (12) months when submitting your application
  • Meet all requirements and be eligible to apply for National Registration with AHPRA

Program dates

  • 11 month program
  • Commences early February 2018
  • Concludes 21st December 2018
